This is one of public parks maintained by the City of Key West and is located as part of the larger Higgs Beach Park. It is very popular late in the day, when local residents are home from work and children are off from school. Public swimming is free and open, right next to the famous pier. If you brought or rent bicycles, you can head northeast from this park and you will hit the A1A Scenic Trail, just past Smathers Beach.

Best Dog Park City in Florida Last month, Florida Magazine Today listed the top cities in the U.S. for dog parks, and Key West was number 5 on the list, and the top for water play.
Library hosts the Family Movie Hour Bring your kids to the Family Movie Hour on Saturdays and Tuesdays. The nicest children focused Film Festival at the Key West Library over at 700 Fleming Street.
Free Children's Activities Our children just loved the opportunity to play in the sand and swings at Astro Park. The City of Key West did a great job utilizing this property, which sat vacant for many years.

Good for Family Outdoor Play A nice park, with lots of room. Very under utilized. The Best Time of the Year to Hit the Florida Keys is Today!

Much of Key West Sightseeing is Free Some of the very best bargains around the City of Key West are free! My friends think that you cannot have a budget friendly trip to the island, since all they want to do is shop, eat, and drink! If you just change out the shopping portion for exploring more of the free places around the island, the cost goes way down. We like the seaport docks, white street pier, and to take advantage of the free parking at smathers beach.
