CATCHING BAIT

Suggestions on Catching Live Bait

We need a bit of help, but at least we are working forward and trying to catch our own live bait. Everyone knows that live bait is more natural to the eye of the predator. We were advised to chum up the pin-fish (daylight) in the grass. At night, we go with the light. Any more suggestions?

Things we catch in the Florida Keys
A pretty day and a fishing pole is a darn good time to catch something special. What we get the most is: Spotted Seatrout (Good-eating shallow water fish, a mainly grassy bottom variety), Sailfish (Large deep water trophy fish even Hemingway loved to catch), Amberjack (Deep water species often smoked and used for fish dip), King Mackerel (This seasonal strong fighter has thick meat chunks and typically smoked), Lady Fish (Light spinning tackle focused fish found mostly on backcountry grassy flats).

We tend to throw my cast net only and skip all the extra stuff. About a dozen tosses will get all you need for pinfish, and other baby fish. Chum will help a lot, but you are looking at about the same overall time.
