You can take a self guided tour back into island time. We thought it might be a little odd and it was, which is part of what makes it entertaining. Do it during the day and not at night! This historic site was established because of a giant hurricane that hit here back around 1850.

Police watch the Cemetery closely
Many eccentric folks rest in peace here, and the ghost tour does a good job showing this property off. Nothing beats the historic stuff on the island. Do not bring beer inside the grounds, as the police will get you.

I was so impressed with the Hidden City Travel Channel Show. Well done. They highlight the Florida Keys while focusing on the stories of pirate Black Caesar, arsonist Dutchy Melville, and my favorite the fire chief Bum Farto.

We learned the history on the Trolley!
Did you know that the Key West Cemetery was created way back in the 1800s after a hurricane wiped out the old cemetery at Higgs Beach. The ground is much higher over here at Solares Hill, so they voted to pick this location. You get a bunch of history, if you spend a little time looking at the markings. Such a rich cultural diversity and over 70 thousand people have been buried in this graveyard.

Honor of the Green Parrot Owner!
One of the monuments inside is for the USS Maine which blew up way back and they were honored here. The original owner of the Green parrot is here, William Von Pfister.
