This is one of the top attractions on the island of Key West, and it is beautiful. Surprising to many is the fact that the sand you see on the beach is actually imported in from other locations. Because of the reefs, Key West does not get the normal wave flow that you do and other beaches around Florida. This creates the beach sand, so Key West has to make it happen on their own. Do not miss a trip to Smathers Beach or Taylor Snorkel Park.

The beaches are very clean
One of the things I was so impressed with is the way they cleaned the beach each morning. The seaweed can be crazy down here and can smell if left on the beach. We stayed across the street at the Sheraton and that's why I now know they cleaned them each morning with these big trucks.

Love it during Spring Break
A very popular beach area near the City of Key West Airport. Only during Spring Break is it crazy wild, as it is typically calm and very relaxing.
