VACA CUT BOAT RAMP
Vaca Cut Boat Ramp
Limited parking and shallow water on low-tide must be considered, but the area is fantastic. This is a really nice area for boating and kayaks. This is one of the main Marathon Florida Boat Ramps that are open to the public. It is at the entrance to Key Colony Beach and the waterway is named Vaca Cut.

Bring your Bicycle to Help with Trailer Parking
Here are some of the good ramps to the north of the Crawl Key Boat Ramp-Vaca Cut. Remember, down here it is not all about the boat ramp, but rather is there legal car and boat trailer parking. Most are more dump in and you have to put the trailer and car back at the rental unit. With a bicycle, that can often be accomplished relatively easy. 1 Sunset Point Park (MM-95 Primitive one lane ramp at 20 Sunset Point Park near Stoneledge Inn and has no parking for boat trailers) 2 Seabird Marina (MM-69.5 Bayside in Layton on Long Key or 69501 Overseas Highway) 3 Snake Creek Marina (MM-85 Full service marina at 85401 Overseas Highway).

Big artificial reef off Marathon
There is a big artificial reef off Marathon where they put lots of the huge steel from the old 7-mile bride. Yes, the parts of the old bridge in the middle was put out to create a reef. In 1982 the new bridge opened, replacing the Moser Channel Bridge. Now we found out there are about fifteen artificial reef sites between Key Largo and Mile Marker Zero in Key West.

Boating in the Florida Keys Video
Great video, way to go and show off the island! We are booking our condo on Key Colony Beach, one minute from the boat ramp.

Marathon Florida Keys Boat Trip
It was nice watching footage shot during a trip out to do some sightseeing on the boat. It shows the boatramp at Vaca Cut and some clips of the journey. Do mention the limited parking at the ramp, so most people take the trailer back to the condo.

Vaca Cut Bridge MM53.1
Oceanside is so sweet for views. It is mile marker 53.1 where you find the Vaca Cut Bridge. The boat ramp is just before it, after you are entering the business district of Marathon for the next eight miles.

Shallow until you hit the Channel
You can put a good sized boat in, but do go with a higher tide. On the low tide it runs about two feet or a bit less. That is for the first fifty yards or so and then it gets plenty deep.
