Jimmy buffet and amazing green pie aside, Key West is well known for a select few things. The town has been dubbed key weird and dismissed as little more than a huge floating bar. I'm a fan of all good things in moderation, but we do more here. What is better than drinking, fish sandwiches, scuba diving and dancing. So much has been written about Key West, it's a wonder that anything new and interesting can still be said of the southernmost outpost. As far as islands go, it's a bit of an anomaly. There's plenty of fun to be had and if you can't find it on island, you're probably dead. It's an island that's culture and community is heavily influenced by the ocean and the beach bum mentality. There are virtually no waves, which means there's little beach sand to speak of. We love the Really good island times!
What a fun trip to the islands. I was lucky enough to go trail discovering with my spouse this summer. From two wheels to two feet, we cruised around the Overseas Highway including a stop in Marathon and Key Colony Beach. Both of us have heard much about the keys trail transformation. It is the best. I say thanks to the people responsible for its development and seeing the boon for local businesses. It works and bikes do it. The trails do shape the physical, economic and environmental health of its communities.
