This place is just fantastic, and one of the most beautiful properties in Islamorada. You have to go here for a drink at the Tiki Bar, and better yet a room for the weekend. Part of what makes it special is the history. The land on which the Cheeca sits once belonged to pioneer Conch settlers. The Pioneer Cemetery is a beautiful little celebrated area at the resort, right off the beach. Do not miss it.
We stayed here and loved our four nights. The story goes that the property was bought in 1880 by Richard Pinder. The cost to place a ownership deed on the property was $3.27!
You get to see a lot on a four mile island by booking at the Cheeca Hotel. The golf course is so tropical, you have to play a round. All throughout the property are neat things like the Pioneer Cemetery to remind you of the fantastic past.
