While you are enjoying a bar cocktail, walk over and browse to the merchantile shop which is in the corner sectioned off. Every day starting about noon they feature live rock to island-tropical music. You might have to wait for a table at night, but there is usually one to grab all day during day light hours. Famous is the drink menu featuring many varieties of strong pour rums. Their food is fabulous, with music all day, and that's why they're always busy. They have some good seating spots at the bar, and we recommend sitting there as you are higher up with better views. Get all the seafood goodies like oysters, lobsters, stone crab, and chilled pink sea-crawling-shrimp with tropical dipping sauces. The bar is located in the main party district in Key West, which makes sense. Their happy hour runs daily, and any time is good for drinks and beers. The expansive entrance doors are always left open, all is good with the air conditioned coolness inside. Pay close attention to all the good foods on the menu, whatever we've ordered has been tasty. I can rave on the classic sloppy joe sandwich, conch chowder, and the fish tacos.
Go here if you want to try some of the best chicken wings on the island. On the menu they are called sloppy boneless wings. It might be the sauce, as they taste so good with beer. You get ten boneless wings served plain or hot, nicely hot, plus the blue cheese dressing and celery sticks. Bring your own carrots I guess. The only thing about it, pretty much everybody in town never gives you enough celery sticks or carrot sticks. To make the chicken wings somewhat healthy, you need a vegetable part for each and every other bite. The procedure goes like this, first you take a nice juicy bite out of one of the chicken wings. After you grab over to get one of the vegetables and nibble on that. Back to the wings and so forth. That is the only way I know how to make chicken wings halfway healthy. This is an excellent bar with all around Good Food, I am just a chicken wing nut!
